About Damián Allegretti
Born in Argentina, Allegretti studied drums with Pipi Piazzolla, Pepi Taveira, Eloy Michelini, Sergio Verdinelli, Sebastián Groshaus and Sebastián Hoyos. Allegretti studied composition with Guillermo Klein, and African percussion with Abdoulaye Badiané (Senegal). Allegretti graduated from Manuel de Falla Conservatory in 2013.
Since 2015 Allegretti has been living in New York City and has performed with Tony Malaby, Erik Friedlander, Ernesto Jodos, Marcelo Gutfraind, Hernan Merlo, Jerónimo Carmona, Enrique Norris, Juan Pablo Arredondo, Patricio Carpossi, Paula Shocron, Luis Nacht, Manuel Ochoa, Pablo Puntoriero, Carlos Alvarez.
He was participant in Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, Mar del Plata International Jazz Festival, El Bolson International Jazz Festival, Ramallo Jazz Festival, Banfield Teatro Ensamble Jazz Festival and Jazz a la Calle Jazz Festival in Uruguay.
In 2013 He traveled to New York and recorded, in Avatar Studios, his first work as a leader called “Stoddard Place” with Tony Malaby and Erik Friedlander. Released in 2014, the album was awarded as The Best Debut Album by “Cuadernos de Jazz” (Spain) the most important jazz magazine in Europe.
Besides teaching music, Allegretti currently takes part in Juani Mendez Quartet, Ramiro Franceschin Quartet, Leonel Duck Trio and he leads his own group.
