Instrumental Program
Piano, Guitar
Private Music lessons offers 30-, 45-, and 60- minute lessons for children (from 3 1/2 years) and adults.
Lessons combine European, Japanese, and American musical methods and are adapted to suit each student. Each lesson includes instrumental playing, music theory (reading, harmony, voice-leading and rhythm), music image, ear training, music appreciation and piano technique. All elements are introduced in a fun and relaxed way to engage students and cultivate love of music
Class Description
During the instrument lessons, the student will listen to music, sing and play while developing musical thinking and love of music.
Students will sing musical pieces and develop their motor skills on the keyboard while sight-reading and training their ear in order to identify different pitches, sounds, and rhythms. Their skills will be demonstrated in the performance of musical pieces both as soloists and as part of an ensemble.
Lesson Content
Through a variety of musical experiences, our philosophy is to encourage self-expression. This is achieved through the ability to understand and feel music while the basis for the execution of the piano and keyboard is cultivated.
Every keyboard and piano lesson will focus on the following areas: listening, singing, playing, and creating (Music theory, technique and artistry, are included in each of these areas).
Listening

Students will listen to musical pieces in order to develop their artistic sensibility.

Listening will strengthen their ability to identify music by using their ear.

Listening will improve the student’s musical expression in specific time measures and rhythms while building up their musical sensibility.
Singing
-
Develops the ability to express and find one’s voice while strengthening intonation, rhythmic and timing skills.

Throughout singing, students will be able to memorize and comprehend note names, harmony and musical theory.
Playing
-
Students will get used to the keyboard layout as well as the relationship between the musical staff (notation), their instrument (piano/keyboard), and their bodies.

By playing musical pieces -which are carefully selected according to the student’s level and capabilities-, students will be able to challenge their technical abilities, express emotions and experience the joy of playing music. By doing so, they will be motivated to practice their instrument and develop their musical potential.
Creating

Through the music that students listen to, play or sing, harmonic and musical thinking is developed; A skill that is demonstrated in the creative process during improvisation and composition.

Imagination nurtures creative thinking, self-esteem, ear training, and love of music.
Performing
-
Students are encouraged to perform two times a year on a STEINWAY & SONS Grand Piano and in front of an audience of family, friends and peers.

Yearly School Program
The yearly music school program is offered to home-schools, private and public schools.
This music class is taught in Spanish and/or English and follows the music curriculum appropriate for each school grade.
Students are exposed to the main groups of musical instruments and to a variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, pop, rock and folk.
Love of music is encouraged by listening, singing, and playing music that resonates with the spirit of each group of students.
The results of the yearly school music program are shown in love of music, longer concentration spans, good intonation, broader vocabulary, strong personal relationships, musical thinking, interest in playing an instrument, rhythmic skills, creativity, and a better understanding of human emotions, .

Introduction to Music Program MISHAKE I Group Class

The Mishake I program is offered for children between 9 months sand 4 years of age.
This introductory music class is taught in Spanish or English and was especially created for kids, their parents, and care-givers.
Love of music is encouraged by singing Latin American and/or North American music. The class is spiced up with movement and body recognition as well as Spanish and/or English vocabulary.
The results of the Mishake introduction to music program are shown in love of music, longer concentration spans, good intonation, broader vocabulary, strong personal relationships, musical thinking, interest in playing an instrument and rhythmic skills.
Voice Program

Each lesson includes singing, music theory, ear training, music appreciation and vocal technique. All elements are introduced in a fun and relaxed way to engage students and cultivate love of music.
